East of England 1

WildSide Sauna

East of England

South Walsham, Norfolk · cold dip: the Broad · from £8

WildSide Sauna runs a traditional Nordic wood-fired sauna inside the Fairhaven Woodland and Water Garden on South Walsham Broad, the standout non-coastal wild sauna in East Anglia. Sessions run from as little as £8 on Saturdays between March and October, swapping a sea plunge for the calm of the Norfolk Broads.

Midlands & Peak District 1

Warm

Midlands & Peak District

Birmingham, West Midlands · cold dip: the 70-acre reservoir setting (supervised swim events run nearby)

Warm is Birmingham's most genuinely community-minded sauna, a wood-fired pop-up beside Edgbaston Reservoir at the Birmingham Settlement Nature & Wellbeing Centre in Ladywood. The 70-acre reservoir ringed by woodland makes a surprisingly natural setting for a city sauna, and sessions run on limited dates booked directly with the operator, so it pays to reserve early.

North West & Lake District 2

Fahrenhut

North West & Lake District

Cumbria · cold dip: Ullswater

Fahrenhut runs a wood-fired sauna with a fixed lakeside setting on Ullswater, the second-largest lake in the National Park and one of the better lakes for year-round open-water swimming. The lake here is more open and exposed than Coniston, so cold-swim acclimatisation matters more, and the shoreline path makes it a natural pairing with a walk along the Ullswater Way.

La'al Sauna

North West & Lake District

Coniston, Cumbria · cold dip: Coniston Water

La'al Sauna, whose name is Cumbrian dialect for 'little', is widely credited as the first outdoor wood-fired sauna in the Lake District, established in January 2023 with saunas hand-built into converted horse boxes. Its sauna TAN has sat at Bank Ground Farm overlooking Coniston Water since April 2025, giving a fixed lakeside footprint with cold dips straight into the lake, while other horsebox units rotate between Cumbrian locations through the season.

South East 1

Tapnell Farm floating sauna

South East

Tapnell, Isle of Wight · cold dip: 10-foot ice-cold plunge tank for six

Tapnell Farm's floating sauna on the Isle of Wight is the UK's first mobile public floating sauna, launched in November 2024 by Camp Bestival founders Rob and Josie Da Bank. It features two wood-fired Nordic saunas with lake views, a 10-foot ice-cold plunge tank for six people and a hygge-inspired lounging area with a firepit, and it runs through the cold months. It is the single most distinctive venue in the South East.
